Wide windows can offer a spectacular view and make your home much brighter. But while they look great, they can be difficult to dress, whether you need privacy, shade, or just a change of style.
To dress wide windows, sliding doors, or French doors, you need to ask yourself first whether your purpose is functional, decorative, or both. You also need to consider your budget.
You can follow some of these tips to help you get started:
- Pair drapes only on the outer edges of multiple windows. If you need to block light or add some privacy, you may put a shade behind the drapes that covers the entire length of the windows. This can be cheaper than buying fabric to cover the entire area.
- Drape sheers from end to end if you want a softer and lighter effect.
- Groups of windows may benefit from lightweight panels between each column of windows to create the effect that there is only one block of windows.
