Sliding glass doors make great patio doors because they provide a wonderful view of the outdoors and help save space when an area is limited. But sometimes your sliding glass door becomes difficult to open, and when that happens, you can simply clean its track and either adjust or replace the rollers.
Cleaning the track is always the best first step since debris can easily get stuck there. Even dust, when it comes into contact with water, can harden and block the track. If the track has been thoroughly cleaned and your sliding door is still hard to open, you might need to adjust the rollers or, ultimately, replace them. If your sliding door has been used every day for many years, chances are especially good that your rollers may be worn out and need to be replaced.
Den Garden shares a step-by-step guide for repairing sliding glass door rollers, beginning with the removal of the sliding glass door through the replacement and adjustment of the rollers.
