This was in the news in 2012, but in case you hadn’t heard about it, a hardware storeowner used old door knobs and other door hardware to create something absolutely stunning.
David Goldberg, the owner of Union hardware, made an eco-mural replica of Vincent Van Gogh’s famous painting Starry Night in front of his store in Bethesda, Maryland. The work of art is made of discontinued brass door knob overstock, as well as other door hardware, including levers and door plates.
The mural attracted many residents and visitors who came to the store to see it in person. Town officials even considered the mural a local attraction in their community, and they set up benches for spectators to better enjoy the viewing experience.
