Window and door screens usually need to be replaced at one time or another. Your screen may rust, rip off, or simply wear out with age. You need to replace these screens; otherwise, your windows and doors won’t function the way they should. Screen replacement can sometimes be expensive since you need to pay for both the materials and the labor. However, according to Ron Hazelton, a home improvement expert, you can replace your own screens quickly and without spending too much.
In his blog, Ron Hazelton shares a video that shows how to replace the screen in your door easily and in just 30 minutes. All you need for this project are screen wire, sharp scissors, spline, a spline roller, and a screwdriver. First, you need to pull and remove the vinyl strip, or spline, from the old screen door or window. Next, lay out the screen wire and put the frame over it, cutting the screen just a little larger than the frame and also cutting the corners of the screen. Then you lay the spline out around the screen and push the spline into the groove using the roller. Finally, you cut off any extra screen.
