Among the various types of door knobs, dummy door knobs are the simplest. But what are these dummy knobs, and how do they differ from other door handles?
The name dummy means that these knobs or levers simply look like real door handle sets without having the locking or even the latching mechanism. They are simply used in doors that do not need to be secured, such as closets. They can be installed on only one side of the door and do not even require a hole to be made through the door. They are situated at about the same location as a regular door knob and do not require any maintenance, except for the occasional cleaning.
