Installing window blinds is a great way to carry a room’s style and design even further and to dress up an average window. On a practical level, they are a wonderful way to let in the amount of natural light that you want during the day and to ensure privacy at night.
Unfortunately, window blinds can also be a big hassle! Bob Vila takes on the 3 most common blind problems and offers suggestions for what to do about them. Here’s a brief run through of his tips:
#1: Restringing window blinds: This is helpful to know if a string gets accidentally cut or frayed.
#2: Replacing the tilt mechanism: Blinds can’t function and give you the privacy you want it the gear that lets them tilt is not working properly.
#3: Replacing the valance clip: Because the valance clip on blinds is usually made of plastic, it can become brittle over time and needs periodic replacement, yet is still easy to accomplish.
