Seniors with Alzheimer’s disease can be at great risk during unexpected times of the day. They can wake up in the middle of the night and leave the house without your knowledge. The great danger is that their memory fails to lead them back home, and something must be done to keep them safe.
Such incidents can be avoided by installing electronic door locks that make it difficult, if not impossible, for your elderly loved one to leave his or her home unaccompanied. Electronic locks usually come in the form of a knob and a keypad set. Some systems also have a tampering alarm that sounds if someone inputs the wrong code, and there are also fingerprint door locks that only open to registered fingerprints.
You can also help keep your elderly loved ones safe by installing an alarm system on their windows, and there is even a wandering alarm system that consists of a base unit and a pendant or band that can be worn by your loved one. The base unit receives a signal when the wearer is still within the vicinity but sounds an alarm or makes a pre-determined phone call if the signal disappears.
