Having a torn screen is just like having no screen at all. Those annoying insects can still get through. If your fiberglass screen is only partly torn and does not necessarily need replacement, here is how you can repair it in just a few easy steps.
To start the project, you need about 6 inches of new fiberglass screen, a speed square, a sharp utility knife, a flat wooden stick, and rubber-based glue or Super Glue gel. Then you can follow these instructions:
1. Using your utility knife and speed square, neatly cut a square hole around the tear, making sure you cut at least ½ inch away from the metal frame.
2. Cut your new fiberglass screen piece so that it overlaps your hole by at least ½ inch on each side.
3. Attach the new screen using glue and a flat wooden stick to spread the glue.
In just three very easy steps, you can patch your torn fiberglass screen and keep insects from getting inside your house.
